Real Jones
Welcome to Haida Fishing! I'm Real Jones, the proud owner and operator of this venture. With roots in Haida Gwaii and First Nations (Haida) ancestry, I have a bond with the waters and traditions of our land. Together with my wife Roberta, who comes from Metlakatla and has Tsimshian heritage, we are excited to share our love for fishing with you.
Since 2000, I have worked as a professional Firefighter for the City of Prince Rupert. possess various fire-related qualifications and hold updated medical certifications, including First Responder Level III, CPR, AED, and Spinal endorsements. My boat operator credentials include SVOP, MED-A3, ROC-M, and Marine First Aid, and we are Transport Canada approved, participating in the Small Vessel Compliance Program.
Having spent my childhood on the waters of Haida Gwaii—food fishing with my grandfather, commercial fishing with my uncles, and eventually to the sport fishing industry—I bring over 20 years of sport fishing experience, including five years as Fishmaster at a world-class all-inclusive resort, where I managed the safety and security of 80 guests.
